Traidcraft fights poverty through trade, helping people in developing countries to transform their lives.

Established in 1979 as a Christian response to poverty, Traidcraft is the UK's leading fair trade organisation. We run development programmes in some of the poorest countries in the world, and campaign in the UK and internationally to bring about trade justice.

In the last year alone we have touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of people: in Kenya, dairy traders have improved the quality of their milk and improved their sales by more than 30%; in India, cotton farmers have reduced their chemical fertiliser and pesticide use by 75% and are now producing their cotton to fair trade standards; and in Bangladesh, small-scale farmers are achieving, on average, a 20% increase in their income.

Benefits to the producers we work with are not just financial, as the wife of one of the farmers we work with in Bangladesh explained, “Now we can send our children to school. We have changed to more nutritious food.” Golam Hossain added “Three years back, there were only 250 children in school. Now there are 750. “
