Hibs Star Kicks Off Recycle 4 Kit
Hibs star David Murphy was joined at Easter Road today (6th March) by pupils from Wardie Primary School to celebrate the launch of Recycle 4 Kit, a fantastic new football initiative. Recycle 4 Kit is an exciting new programme by the Scottish Schools Football Association, Redeem and Errea Sportswear that offers school and youth football teams a great way to get football strips and equipment for free whilst helping the environment!
By recycling old mobile phones and used printer cartridges teams can earn points to be redeemed against a wide variety of equipment from footballs, water bottles and bibs to tracksuits and a complete set of strips. With each cartridge and phone worth up to 5 and 100 points respectively, teams who get their communities and local businesses behind them could soon be the envy of their opponents.
Mr Alex McMenemey of Scottish Schools Football Association said:
“This is a fantastic programme which helps schools and youth teams get their kit and equipment for nothing, it makes the boys and girls playing in new branded kit look & feel like real professionals.”
The aim of the Scottish Schools Football Association is to promote the game at all levels in schools. The SSFA recognises that schools are faced with a number of issues in encouraging the game: tight budgets, high transport costs, pitch hire and a general lack of resources and equipment.
Whether they are swapping old phones for footballs or exchanging empty cartridges for kit participating teams can also be sure that they are doing their bit for the environment. By recycling these items instead of binning them, unnecessary and potentially harmful waste is diverted from landfill reducing pollution.
Teams can sign up to get recycling and redeeming those points at www.recycle4kit.com or
by calling 08451 30 20 10.
