Redeem Hoping for a Supermarket Sweep
with New Charity Partnership
Recycling experts Redeem have launched a new fundraising partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support and supermarket chain Somerfield. The new initiative will see staff in 976 Somerfield stores encouraging customers to get recycling and raising funds for people affected by cancer.
Freepost recycling envelopes will be present in stores nationwide to enable customers to return some of the estimated 90 million redundant mobile phones and their used printer cartridges. The recycling initiative is part of a wide range of activities the retailer will be undertaking to raise funds to enable Macmillan Cancer Support to continue to offer local cancer care services. These services include information and counselling centres, specialist medical staff and grants for people with cancer who are in financial difficulty.
Lisa, I’Anson, one of Macmillan Cancer Support’s high profile supporters, said of the new initiative,
“I’m thrilled to be involved in this exciting new project for Macmillan Cancer Support and Somerfield. It’s so simple - by recycling your old mobile phone you could help raise money for people living with cancer. My mother had cancer, so I know first hand the incredible work Macmillan can do to help families like mine. Every phone dropped at Somerfield stores will help Macmillan’s vital work with people affected by cancer, so I encourage you all take part and get down to your local store now to support this very important cause.”
