Recycling Appeal Start Date: May 2006
Registered Charity No: SC020862

The City of Edinburgh Council's Waste Aware Edinburgh campaign has teamed up with The Sick Kids Friends Foundation  to create The Edinburgh Recycling Appeal. Every recyclable mobile phone, PDA and printer cartridge received will result in an agreed cash amount being donated to the charity enabling The Sick Kids Friends Foundation to continue their work for the children of Scotland.

The Sick Kids Friends Foundation was set up in 1992 and gives assistance in four vital areas:

  • Provision of extra items and services to make a child's stay in hospital less distressing for both patients and their families
  • Improvements in child and family facilities
  • The supply of extra medical equipment
  • Paediatric research and training

For further information on the work of The Sick Kids Friends Foundation visit www.edinburghsickkids.org or call 0131 668 4949.

Waste Aware Edinburgh aims to change public behaviour and attitudes towards waste. To reduce the amount of waste going to landfill, householders need to reduce, reuse and recycle more waste. The Council has a current recycling rate of over 20%, and needs to reach the national target of 25% by the end of 2006.

Fundraising Project

"The Sick Kids Friends Foundation is delighted to benefit from The Edinburgh Recycling Appeal with support from The City of Edinburgh Council. Every year we help over 100,000 children and their families who come through the doors of the hospital. Generous donations from the public enable us to provide extra comforts for the children, create child and family friendly facilities, purchase additional state-of-the-art medical equipment and fund specialised research and training for staff and parents. Thank you for taking part in this appeal and helping to make the Sick Kids even better!!" Maureen Harrison, The Sick Kids Friends Foundation
