Recycling Appeal Start Date: August 2000 Registered Charity No: SCO06467 |
The Scottish SPCA is Scotland’s animal welfare charity. Their objectives are to prevent cruelty to animals and encourage kindness and humanity in their treatment.
Every year they rescue thousands of abused, abandoned and injured animals while their rescue centres across the country rehome thousands more to loving new families. The charity’s wildlife rescue centre also rehabilitates every kind of wild animal in Scotland. Scottish SPCA Inspectors investigate cruelty and help take those responsible for abuse to court. They are unique among animal welfare organisations in that they can report cases directly to the Procurator Fiscal Service. The charity’s free Prevention through Education programme is offered to every primary school in Scotland, encouraging children to treat animals with the compassion and respect they deserve.
As an animal welfare charity they receive no government or lottery funding and rely on public donations to continue rescuing and rehoming animals in desperate need of help.
The Scottish SPCA is completely separate from the RSPCA, who operate in England and Wales only.
